What’s in our camera bag?

Have you always wanted to know how we take our photos whilst we travel or which camera gear we use to film our videos?

Well look no further, as below is a full list of the camera gear we have used and/or are using throughout our travels.

**please note that the links provided are not actually where we purchased the item from it is just used as a reference and we are not endorsing any of these products**

Camera Bodies

Canon EOS R6 - Was and still is our first mirrorless camera. After making the switch we both agree we would never go back, both image quality and video quality is some of the sharpest we have seen straight out of camera. We use this camera to shoot all our top paid photography and videography work for our clients including all our instagram content.

Canon PowerShot G7 X Mk III - We love this little Powershot camera when we feel like using more than a phone but not wanting to use a large camera body & lens. It’s amazing quality and fits in a handbag. The video gives a home movie style vibe, and we also love using the flash for the photos.

Camera Lenses

SIGMA 50mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art - What we use to shoot most of our video content on. It produces beautiful video quality, and being a F1.4 lens is allows us to get a very shallow depth of field. We have also found that this focal length is perfect for filming people and faces as it doesn’t distort or disfigure body parts or the face as some focal lengths can.

SIGMA 35mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art - Is one of our favourite lenses. Being a F1.4 lens is allows us to get a very shallow depth of field. We have also found that this focal length is perfect for most photo sessions.

SIGMA 24mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art - We have found that this focal length is perfect for if you want your captures wider, it’s great for wider group shots or landscapes.

CANON RF 28-70mm f/2L USM - Is our favourite lens and is what we use to shoot most of our photo and video content. It produces beautiful quality. If you are looking for a great one stop shop lens this is your go too. We can shoot such a variety of content with this lens and comes with us on many shoots and travels.

CANON EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM - This lens is great for shooting nature, wildlife and things that are in the distance. We love using this lens to capture images of us, while compressing the background, to create a cool perception that the background is closer than it really is.

SIGMA 14-24mm F2.8 DG HSM | Art - Is the perfect lens for assisting us in all our accomodation collaborations as it allows us to get a very wide view to capture those smaller rooms.

CANON Mount Adapter EF-EOS-R - Is a Canon EF-R adapter which we need as it allows us to use our EF lenses on our Canon R6

Drones / Action Cameras

DJI - MINI 3 Pro- Is the drone that we have used for all our travels - photos and videos, we have found it extremely useful as it folds up and fits perfectly in our camera bag. We also love how easy and user-friendly this drone is to fly and operate it captures both great video and photo content.

DJI - FVP - Is a drone Ryan uses to record high speed video. You may have heard of these as race drones they are definitely not for a beginner (used for video only)

Insta360 X3 - Is a perfect accessory we use to capture all of our shots when we can’t use a drone, as it gives the same effect. You can get some really cool fish eye content with this little camera. We also have an underwater housing for it, making it great for underwater footage. This is definitely a great little action camera to have in your camera bag.

Accessories

Benro Travel Angel Tripod - Is a very compact-able tripod we love to take on the road with us. It packs down very small and easily fits on our camera bag.

ZHIYUN CRANE 2 - Is our main gimbal we use to shoot all our stabilised videos using our R6. Ryan also runs around with this to shoot weddings on he just loves it.

DJI OSMO mobile 3 - Is our iPhone gimbal we use to stabilise our iPhone footage when doing walkthroughs or any walking or running shots.

Smartphone Flexi Tripod - Is the perfect addition as the wrap-around legs let you mount virtually anything anywhere.

GDome Waterproof Housing - Is what we use for our GoPro HERO8 to get those 50/50 split shots.

Violet Mae Camera Bag - Is our camera gear backpack we use to fit all camera gear in.

Violet Mae Dual & Single Camera Harness - These harnesses are incredible and they look amazing too. We use the double for shooting weddings and the single, Jess uses lots to capture family shoots and more. So handy when you need your hands free.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max - We both use this phone, and love the quality of camera, it’s great to capture all of our stories and phone/ BTS content.

MacBook Pro - We use this to edit on the go.

iMac - We use this to edit at home.

Neewer LED Lighting Panels - is the lighting panels we mainly use for weddings or events that we shoot. However, we have found them to be very useful when shooting accomodations or low light situations. These lights are extremely affordable and even come with batteries to allow you to use them on the road.

Software

Adobe Photoshop - is a program we use on our MacBooks when we want to get more creative with our shots. The program allows us to change or edit an image more creatively that just isn’t possible to do so in Lightroom. Photoshop is a more advanced program compared to Lightroom as it involves tools and other processes to blend layers together to create a final image.

Adobe Lightroom - is a basic photo editing program that we use on both mobile and Mac to change or enhance a photo we have taken. We also have presets available for purchase on our website if you would like to edit like us.

DaVinci Resolve 19 - is a video editing software that we use on our MacBook to cut and edit footage together to create a cinematic video for either clients or Instagram. This program has a lot of useful add-ons and presets that you can easily apply to create seamless transitions throughout your video.

VSCO - is a mobile app that we use to quickly edit photos on the go. It has a number of free features where it allows you to apply a preset and make basic photo edits.

TONE - is a mobile app that we use to quickly edit video on the go. It has a number of free features where it allows you to apply a preset and make basic video edits.
