Ecopia Retreat Kangaroo Island - @ecopiaretreat
A luxury KI sanctuary and accomodation where you are immersed in nature.
This stunning eco friendly, off grid wildlife sanctuary is located just North of Seal Bay and lies on 150 acres of private wilderness. The owners Rob and Yael have put there heart and souls into this property both villas (Villa Ada, Villa May) and “the Residence” have been architectural designed all to reflect their passion for Australian’s natural environment. Influenced by indigenous culture these gorgeous villas feature beautiful natural 300mm thick rammed-earth walls, a luxurious king-size bed, a freestanding bath and decorative indigenous art work throughout. Living off grid immersed in nature has never felt so comfortable.
Our favourite thing to do whilst here was to explore the property which has exclusive access to the Eleanor River. The river offers a very unique experience in which you can listen and enjoy some of the rarer sightings of native wildlife and birds KI has to offer. Being a sanctuary the wildlife comes in abundance where almost every day/night we would find an echidnas grazing, a koala snacking on some leaves and the Kangaroo’s right at our doorstep all more than friendly for you to say hello. In the mornings we found ourselves drinking coffee on the deck as the sun rose, picnics among the wildlife in the day, and late night wines by the indoor fire listening to the beauty of Ecopia. We also loved putting together locally sourced products on a cheese platter as well as a local gin tasting all in the comfort of the home. The owners have really made this stay feel so welcoming and personal, as well featuring local brands and eco friendly products around the villa, you can feel how much thought has gone into this gorgeous stay.
This accomodation truly is something special, perfect for those looking to immerse themselves in Kangaroo Islands natural surroundings. If you stay at Ecopia we cant recommend enough to explore the property and see all that it has to offer. We can not thank the beautiful hosts, Rob and Yael for allowing us to experience their gorgeous property/sanctuary and truely rediscover why KI is so beautiful.
