Ballara Retreat - @ballara.retreat

Where to start with Ballara Retreat, we just have too many nice things to say about this accommodation. Situated in a small town named Warooka on the southern Yorke Peninsula (YP).

Let’s start at the beginning. We left our home in the Adelaide hills, where along the way we were greeted by bright yellow canola fields on the side of the road throughout the drive, we knew we were in for a treat when already the surroundings were so beautiful. We entered the small town of Warooka, where Ballara Retreat is found. Steph was there to greet us, she made us feel so welcome, she gave us the full tour of the property as well as some awesome recommendations on where to visit whilst in the YP. This included local beaches, landmarks and places to eat. She even provided us with a map to make it easy to point out such destinations. Throughout our tour we got to know a bit more about the history of Ballara retreat, where we found out the buildings is a stunning old stone home that was built in the early 1900s.

The home consist of 3 bedrooms which can accommodate up to 6 adults. It has a beautiful large fully equipped kitchen and bathroom with an original claw tub and indoor fire place. (We can’t wait to come back with some friends next time)
An outstanding feature of the house would have to be its 3m high ceilings, plus our favourite the outdoor space. The house is surrounded by a huge outdoor area, with a large lawn area plus plenty of pathed gardens. The views from the outdoor area are incredible! You can gaze over the country side where sheep and cattle are free roaming, with the stunning YP ocean/coast in the distance!

During our stay at Ballara, we enjoyed exploring the property and all its surroundings. We have done a lot of Innes National Park and Marion Bay before (which if you haven’t it’s not far to drive) however we ended up exploring Edithburgh (25mins), Port Turton and the Corney Point lighthouse!

The house is located across from a Foodland, a café and not far from the local pub. Wifi is accessible throughout the house and a breakfast was provided which is a fresh continental style.

If you are looking for a home away from home surrounded by country and beautiful beaches, cosy and inviting then this is the place for you! Whether its just with a loved one, or a few friends, this home is so perfect for a base to explore the YP. Or if your just looking for a space to unwind and relax its interior décor and art vibe is so beautiful you can get lost in your thoughts for a few days.
